My internship at Schwartz is going really well so far. I love the city, even though I’m still getting use to the lifestyle, and there is still so much that I want to explore before I leave. However, I’m only going to be here for 12 more days!
As soon as I get settled here a Schwartz, and in San Francisco for that matter, I’m going to be uprooted and transplanted back up to Chico to start my last internship and semester in college.
This reality has got me thinking. I don’t know if three weeks in the city will be long enough for me to decide whether I like it or not. From my experiences traveling and living in other places, I know that it takes time to adjust and find friends and places that are fun to go or eat at.
I also feel a little discouraged because I’m doing everything on my own and I would love to have a companion to share my experiences with. In one sense, I like exploring the city on my terms, but I would also like to have someone to talk to, dine and travel around with.
However, I guess it’s appropriate that I’m here alone because in the end the decision is up to me whether San Francisco is the right fit. I need to experience the city alone because I will be here by myself if I decide to move here. I just hope that by the end of this experience I will have a clearer picture of what I want in the future.
